Woodpile Studios is a full-service graphic design firm located in Northern Virginia within the Washington DC Metro Area, specializing in graphic design for marketing, communications, corporate identity and branding. Originally established in 1994 by Pete Buttecali, Woodpile has grown into full-service, 10-member virtual design firm providing award-winning creative to government and commercial organizations of all sizes. From small family-owned businesses to Fortune 500 giants, Woodpile can deliver the necessary results with tailored solutions to custom problems.
The inspiration behind the Woodpile name came from Pete’s idea that our collective creative capability is an organic fuel for changing room temperature, for shedding light on the defining details of our client uniqueness, and for releasing the energy of their possibilities for growth. Rich holds a BFA in Graphic Design from the Corcoran College of Art + Design, and has been active in the DC metropolitan design community since 1997. With an extensive knowledge of typography and grid structure, he has also served as in-house designer for the Smithsonian Institution's Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery.
